The renovation
journey
If you found us on Instagram or Facebook, this is where the story continues. Follow abandoned stone houses in Calabria as they become homes again — one wall, one window, one sunset at a time.
Where the social feed ends,
the journey continues here
Our Instagram and Facebook feeds show you the day-to-day: a wall being chipped back, a kitchen taking shape, a Calabrian sunset over a half-restored roof. This page is the longer version of that story — the full before-and-after, the people who make it happen, and how you can step into the journey as a buyer.
What the renovation journey actually looks like
Every property we touch moves through four overlapping phases. The work is rarely linear — but this is the arc you’ll see in our posts, and the arc we walk you through as a buyer.
1
The Discovery
Walking through a village that most people drive past. Identifying the stone house with good bones, the right orientation, the right neighbors. This is where the story starts on social.
2
The Honest Audit
Structural engineers, surveys, permits, paperwork. We share the unglamorous parts too — the cracks, the bureaucratic days, the surprises. The goal: no surprises for the buyer later.
3
The Build
Local stonemasons, carpenters, tilers — many of them the same families who built the original homes. We coordinate, we translate, we keep the camera rolling so you can watch it unfold.
4
The Handover
Keys in hand, welcome dinner at the local trattoria, the first sunset from the new terrace. We stay on for property management — because the journey doesn’t end at the notary.
Who you’ll see on the feed — and who you’ll meet in Calabria
Our social content is made by a small group of people who each play a specific role in the buying journey. They’re not interchangeable — here’s how the work is split between the team and our partners.
Renzo Bugnatto
US Realtor · HomesRus Inc.
Renzo is the voice of our US-side content. He’s a licensed American realtor, so when you ask a question in the comments about financing, taxes, or the buying process from an American’s perspective, that’s him.
More about Renzo →Lourdes · Chaos & Class
Creative partner · Chaos & Class
Lourdes is our creative partner. Through Chaos & Class she shapes the visual story of the renovations — the styling, the photography, the way a finished room actually feels to live in. Follow the journey on Instagram:
@chaosandclass.official →Saverio Monterosso
Calabria Home Living · On-site lead
Saverio is the camera in front of every stone wall and the voice that explains what the mason is doing. He’s our on-the-ground lead — local, born in the area, and the person who turns the social content into actual houses.
More about Saverio →Francesco Misuraca
SMAF Legal · Legal & compliance
Francesco is the law office that makes sure every renovation you see on the feed is also 100% legal — permits, contracts, due diligence. The not-glamorous backbone of every project.

The same people you see on social are the people who pick up the phone when you call. Here’s how the handoffs work, from the first DM to the day you get the keys.
1. Renzo
First conversation in your timezone, English. Helps you understand the process, financing, and what to expect.
2. Saverio
On-the-ground shortlist, video walk-throughs, coordinates in-person visits. Italian & English.
3. Francesco
Legal due diligence, contracts, permits, notary. Bilingual, end-to-end protection for international buyers.
4. Local craftsmen
Stonemasons, carpenters, electricians, plumbers — many the same families who built the original homes, generations ago.
5. Lourdes / Chaos & Class
Coordinates interiors, styling, and the final visual story. You see this on social — you get it in your home.
6. You
You pick the property, set the brief, and decide the pace. We’re the bridge between your vision and the village.
